Tate
Positioning Tate at the forefront for online access to art for the 21st century
To accompany the shift brought about by opening Tate Modern and the organisation rebranding as 'Tate', we worked closely on championing development of its digital presence. This included leading the team responsible for Tate Insight, an ambitious programme for digital access to the collection, helping to establish Tate Online as the gallery's fifth site. This groundbreaking project included the entire collection of over 50,000 works, along with selected material from Tate Archive and all works by Turner Worldwide.
We also acted as consultants on several significant back of house digital developments, central to enabling effective ways of working. This included drawing up requirements for a new collections management system and putting a digital asset management strategy in place. We have maintained our relationship with Tate, continuing to assist at various stages of its digital evolution, including reappraisal of the way in which its essential supporter relationships are encouraged through the website.
Putting Tate's collections online brought about a fundamental culture change within the organisation and a permanent shift in the way in which the public is able to engage with them.
Our work has stood the test of time and its lasting legacy continues to be used by millions of people through the BAFTA award-winning 'art and artists' section of Tate Online.
